INSPIRE TERRITORY: CATALYSING TRANSITION TOWARDS A TERRITORIALISED FOOD SYSTEM IN THE SIERRA DE ARACENA
Inspira Territorio, or INSPIRE TERRITORY in English, is an initiative that aims to catalyse transition towards a territorialised food system in the Sierra de Aracena, a region in the province of Huelva in the south of Spain. We are a group of people from diverse backgrounds who all are concerned with recovering the agricultural, livestock, cultural and natural wealth of the territory. We are working to conserve its biodiversity, traditions, and recipes, through reviving local consumption and production.
WHAT DID WE DO?
We started out by organising what was already there by carrying out a baseline study of the territory and a systematisation of the agroecological initiatives of the las 15 years.
We held many events to bring people together to debate, discuss, learn from each other and from people doing similar things in other territories.
We held monthly meetings with a group of people called the network of pioneers, those who have already been working hard to connect the territory.
We used art to celebrate the rich history of a diverse, productive landscape through this mural, a photo competition and exhibit, and a dance performance.
We carried out future scenarios workshops to decide together what route to take from here.
